Hyundai Card completed a proof of concept for a stablecoin transfer involving Hyundai Motor America and Hyundai Motor Mexico. According to Korean media reports, $20,000 was converted into USDT, sent between the two countries and then converted back into U.S. dollars. The process reportedly took about seven minutes. Hyundai Card is also planning a second PoC between Hyundai Motor’s European units, with Circle and Visa named among the partners.
The key point is not the size of the transfer, but the use case. Large companies are testing stablecoins as infrastructure for treasury and cross-border settlement, not only as crypto market assets. The second-order risk is fragmented compliance: one payment flow may touch banking, tax, licensing and internal control rules across several jurisdictions.
Next, watch whether Hyundai moves beyond proof of concept and who becomes the regulated settlement partner.
