Circle has received final approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to establish First National Digital Currency Bank, N.A., operating as Circle National Trust.

The company says the new entity will be a federally supervised national trust bank, with initial work focused on fiduciary digital asset custody for Circle and its affiliates, and possible limited custody services for institutional clients later.

The important point is not a new token launch, but a move toward regulated infrastructure around stablecoins. If major issuers bring reserves, custody and compliance closer to federal supervision, stablecoins may look less like standalone crypto products and more like financial market plumbing. The risk is higher regulatory dependency: one supervisory change could affect product design quickly.

Next, watch when Circle National Trust begins operations and how much of USDC reserve management moves under it.
