Tether says its gold-backed asset XAUt has received certification for compliance with Islamic finance principles. The review was conducted by Amanah Advisors under the leadership of Shariah scholar Mufti Faraz Adam.
Each full XAUt token represents ownership of one fine troy ounce of physical gold from a London Good Delivery bar. The certification is intended to make tokenized gold more accessible to Islamic banks, institutions and individuals that require financial products to follow Shariah standards.
The certification is not a universal authorization to offer XAUt in every jurisdiction. Banks and platforms still need local permissions, their own compliance reviews and suitable custody arrangements. Its importance lies in broadening the potential market for tokenized gold and connecting blockchain infrastructure with Islamic finance.
