Storj management has announced a voluntary, court-supervised financial restructuring. The company attributes the decision to liabilities that predate its current strategy and plans to use the process to present a new business plan.
According to the team, the decentralized storage network continues operating normally and the utility of the STORJ token has not changed. Management also intends to propose a mechanism that could allow token holders to participate in the equity of the restructured company.
Eligibility, mechanics and distribution terms have not been defined. Any arrangement must receive court approval and respect the legal priority of creditor claims. The announcement is therefore an intention, not a promise of shares or recovery. The practical test is whether Storj can maintain payments, development and network infrastructure throughout the restructuring.
