Samsung SDS, the IT services arm of Samsung Group, is discussing cooperation with Dunamu, the operator of Upbit, around stablecoin infrastructure, digital asset systems and AI-based payments. Samsung SDS CEO Lee Jun-hee described the talks during the company's second-quarter earnings call.
The participants make the story important. Dunamu operates one of South Korea's largest crypto exchanges, while Samsung SDS brings cloud, IT and security infrastructure. When companies like these study stablecoins as payment infrastructure rather than only tokens, the market becomes more corporate.
Reports say Samsung SDS has already worked on tokenized securities projects and end-to-end validation of stablecoin processes from issuance to settlement. That suggests the discussion is not just about a wallet or exchange listing. It is about full-stack infrastructure: issuance, custody, settlement, security and integration with enterprise systems.
For now, this remains discussion rather than a finished product. Public details on timeline, technical design and commercial scope are limited. Still, the direction is clear. In South Korea, stablecoins are increasingly being evaluated as infrastructure for digital payments and assets, not only as exchange tools.
