Kenya's National Examinations Council launched a credential verification system on Avalanche with more than 30 million academic records. Employers, universities and other institutions can use the infrastructure to confirm certificates onchain. The objective is practical: reduce forged qualifications and replace slow verification requests sent to separate institutions. KNEC and Avalanche have not yet disclosed how widely the live system is being used.

This is a useful blockchain test without financial theater. A student or employer does not need a token, yield product or wallet to benefit. They need a fast answer to two questions: did the council issue this credential, and has the record changed since publication? If the platform works, value is created through trusted data rather than AVAX trading volume.

A blockchain only protects what is recorded, however. It does not prove that the original information was entered correctly, that the holder's identity was matched without error or that personal data permissions are safe. Moving 30 million credentials makes the quality of the source registry more important than the choice of network.

The second-order effect may appear in hiring and cross-border education. Automated verification reduces the cost of screening candidates and can accelerate recognition of qualifications, but it also makes large-scale profiling easier. Watch actual verification counts, employer fees, correction procedures and privacy rules. For Avalanche, the meaningful metric is not the AVAX price but whether the public system remains useful after the announcement. A successful deployment could become a template for other government registries. A failed one would demonstrate that immutable infrastructure cannot repair inaccurate or poorly governed source data.
