Hydra X has introduced HX Gateway API for financial institutions and developers building products on Canton Network. The REST interface maps core network operations to familiar business workflows, including participant onboarding, asset issuance, asset management and transfers.

The product is intended to reduce dependence on specialists in Daml, Canton's underlying programming language. Hydra X estimates that the API can shorten time to market by up to 80% and reduce deployment time by about half.

Those figures are company estimates and may vary between projects. An API can simplify integration, but it does not remove licensing, custody, access-control and smart-contract testing requirements. The launch shows institutional blockchains competing not only through architecture, but also through conventional developer experience.
