American Bitcoin Corp (Nasdaq: ABTC), the Hut 8-backed mining and treasury venture co-founded by Eric Trump, added 500 BTC on July 6, pushing its reserve past 8,000 BTC. That's up from 5,401 BTC at the end of 2025, built through self-mining (817 BTC in Q1) and direct purchases.
Some of that growth comes with strings attached. SEC filings show ABTC paid for part of its Bitmain miner orders by pledging thousands of BTC as collateral instead of cash, redeemable over roughly two years. Bitmain can't force a sale, but if bitcoin stays below the locked-in deal price, ABTC's easiest path is to forfeit the pledged coins rather than redeem them, quietly shrinking the reserve.
Watch for pledge updates in ABTC's next filing, and whether bitcoin holds above those locked-in Bitmain valuations before redemption windows close.
